How has my world view changed since the study of World War II? By: Tyler M. My view of the world has changed dramatically since the study of WWII. I have opened my eyes to the fact that the world was not always such a nice place to live. I used to think when hearing things in the news about wars in other countries that it didnt matter. I thought Im not affected by it, why should I care? Now my view has changed. Millions of people died in the war and the Holocaust. Even today, there are people out there that need our help. In fact Rwandan tribes called the Tutsis and Hutus in Africa have been killed in a civil war. Twice as many tribesmen died in Africa as American soldiers died in WWII, but people hardly notice. War is a part of life.Thank God that another World War hasnt occurred since that disaster, and dear God I hope nothing that terrible will EVER happen again. Now that I have opened my eyes I understand the truth. A man named Adolf Hitler was born in Austria. As a child he hoped to eventually become an artist. When he was old enough he sent in an application for an art school. The school was not willing to take him in and young Adolf was soon living off the streets, sometimes making a small amount of money off of a few painting, or taking a trip to a soup kitchen. All this changed when Adolf went to his first meeting in The German Workers Party. In a short period of time, Hitler was the head of that group which would eventually develop into the Nazi Party. By this time Hitler had developed a solid hatred for people of the Jewish religion. From what he had read in fliers he had been told the Jewish were an inferior race and thought that they were all powerful compared to people like the Germans. Hitler began to think it was the Jews that had made sure he wasnt accepted at the art school. After all, it was a Jewish owned school. He blamed Jews for all his problems and the problems of all of Germany. Hitler eventually rose to the position of chancellor, second in command, of the German government. Very soon after that the government leader died, leaving Adolf in control of the government. This is where everything begins to piece together. Hitler immediately began his war plans. At first all Jews were just discriminated against and made fun of. Next only Jewish people were allowed to go to Jewish stores. The next thing you knew houses were being burned to the ground and Jews were forced to live concentration camps. Later came Death Camps such as Auschwitz where people were gassed to death or shot and then had their bodies burned in a furnace. Hitler eventually invaded Poland, Belgium, Denmark, France and took over most of central Europe and some of the Soviet Union. The United States eventually joined the war after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Much blood was shed here too. With the U.S., Great Britain, and the U.S.S.R. all fighting the Germans, the Germans were eventually overpowered. Before anyone could get to him, Hitler, his wife, and his right hand man committed suicide. Adolf commanded his soldiers to burn his body so no Russians could take it and put it on display in a museum. Millions of people died during the war and the Holocaust. Many sacrificed their lives for their countries, and many died for no reason at all. The people involved in the period of world history from 1939-1945 made the world what it is today. We will remember them and their sacrifices.
