How has my world view changed since the study of World War II?
By: Robert
| My view of the world has
changed since my study of World War II. For example before my studies I knew nothing about
the Holocaust, but now I know that Adolf Hitler and the Nazis had killed a lot of the Jews
(which is very sad) and that there was a resistance movement. The resistance workers made
such an example of bravery. I wouldnt even think about doing anything like
that. After the study of the Holocaust I found out how much prejudice and hatred
there is in the world. Hitler was a perfect example of both; he hated anyone who was not
German. He executed them, I think that is just inhumane because I dont know
anyone that would kill someone because they look different or practice a different
religion. I always thought America was good but after a while I learned that the Americans used Japanese for slave labor just as we used blacks. It makes me feel bad that we thought anyone who wasnt American was of a lesser power. Before my studies I thought that a nuclear bomb was more powerful than an atomic bomb but later on found out they were the same thing. I learned where the scientists found out what to use, how they tested the nuclear reaction, and where they tested the actual bomb. I know that Hiroshima was one of the Japanese cities America dropped the bomb on. I dont know if I would have made the decision to drop the bomb because it was a big decision so I feel it was good and bad. I felt that at home I could tell my grandpa anything and he would say I was right. My grandpa knows a lot about the war and we would discuss it. War is something I havent liked since I found out what it really is because it wastes resources and food and now since Ive seen and actually read true stories about war Ive found it even worse because of the thousands of deaths. I hope it never happens again. |
