How has my world view changed since the study of World War II?
By: Madison
| Before I had taken part in the study of
the Second World War, I was ignorant on what had taken place on the timeline. WWII was
just another title on a book I had looked at in the library. WWII hadnt meant
anything to me. But now that I have just completed a five-month exploration of the war, I
now feel more confident, that when I share the information I have learned about World War
II with other people, they will feel encouraged to learn more. Adolf Hitler was horrible. His hate for not only the Jews but also disabled, handicapped, and people from different races had affected the whole world. He had a plan to rule the world. He was close but not close enough. Since Adolf was interested in pursuing an art degree when he was a student, it is amazing that he could have become a very high ranked leader in Germanys government. But it was because of his position that he held in WWI as a messenger and because he joined the German Worker Party early on, as the 55th member, that he gained the power to do what he did. The Americans joined the war after the bombing at Pearl Harbor. The attack was a great turning point in history. It led to great misfortune. Those who were at Pearl Harbor were surprised and terrified. A total of 2,403 were killed, 188 planes were destroyed, and there were 8 ships were either damaged or destroyed. Another major turning point of the war was the dropping of the bomb on Japan. I think that President Truman made a good choice to drop the bomb in on Japan. The dropping of the Atomic Bomb was kind of like saying to the Japanese, " Dont mess with us anymore." After America dropped the Atom Bomb, the war was coming to a close, although the Cold War was just beginning. Europe was almost completely destroyed, especially Great Britain. No one has homes, people were dying everywhere, and people were starving. So, when I completed my study on World War II, I was intrigued by the way one group of 55 people (the German Workers Party) could start a war. Adolf Hitler was a very wise and crafty man. He had a plan to exterminate all the Jews out of Germany and out of the world. He got pretty close to doing pretty to doing just that. I know now how horrible war is. I hope it never happens again. |
