How to do an
 Internet Information Search

The object of the search is to come up with ten high level questions about a topic related to WWII.  You will be making a handout with the questions, the website where you can find the answer to the question and blanks lines to answer the question on. These information searches will be used by other students learning about WWII.

  • Choose your partner and choose a topic from the list.  Bring your partner and your diskette to the lab.

  • Open the Internet; minimize Internet Explorer and open a Word document.  Both these programs will be on your task bar.

  •  Search the websites for the ten or more questions you want to ask.  Ask good thoughtful questions. To find  websites you can start at http://connections.smsd.org/nieman/worldwar2.htm
You can also use http://www.yahooligans.com or some other search engine.

  •  Title (center) your Word document World War II, hit enter –(Your topic) Information Search.  Use Arial Font. Then type Designed by: (your name)

  •  When you find the question you want to answer, type the question in your Word document.  Then type “to find the answer” or “to read more about it” and cut and paste the site address from Internet Explorer into your Word document.  After putting the site address into your Word document, hit enter.  The site address will become a live hyperlink.

  • Be sure your questions make the reader think!  Write questions at the analysis, synthesis, or evaluation level.

  •  Using “shift-underline” put in enough lines after the question for a student to answer the question.
