How has my world view changed since the study of World War II?
By: Holly
| The study of World War II changed me
because all I know about is peace. I think that is a good thing because in war no one wins
anyway and its tragic for everyone. What changed me the most was listening to the
stories of the person I interviewed and the people others interviewed. Some stories were
funny and some were sad. I think these people gave me ideas of war and how bad it was. I
believe you still dont know what it was or was like until you experience it. To some
people in EL war was just a word and didnt mean any thing before they
interviewed people in the war. Although, I hope no one else should have to face war again I do think it is important to know what people on the home front did and how important the atomic bomb was. If we ever do forget there may be a World War III, which I would never want to happen. Weve faced enough wars for as long as we live. There should be NO MORE WARS and NO MORE FIGHTING. Just one word PEACE in the world. There are a few good aspects of World War II such as the invention of refrigerators, computers, concentrated orange juice, and microwaves, etc. I live in the kind of world my grandma never had because of World War II. I cant change what happened and neither can you. The only thing I can try to do is prevent it from ever happening again. My grandmother faced World War II as a nurse trying to help any injured soldier German, American, French, anyone who needed help. We need to treat everyone like people. No one can truly blame me or my country for dropping the bomb, because we didnt, one person made the decision to drop it. We cannot blame all the Germans for massacring Jews, nor the idea of it because one man named Adolph Hitler was the one who did. People are individuals and shouldnt be treated badly for what someone else has done. My knowledge is that if one person does something wrong the people who still hold anger will lash out at their country. The people who remember but forgive will not even blame the one person responsible. There is almost no one who is in between. People are strange and different and one person can change your life forever. I hope anyone who studies World War II never wants any war. War is a time when people change the world in a bad way, when there isnt any food to eat, when people die. War is not a friend. War only creates destruction, devastation, and death. Every thing is unhappy, unpredictable, and unusual in war. One thing about World War II that amazes me is that Adolph Hitler was only one person. One person who started a war, a war that changed my life even now 56 years later. Thats what I mean when I say one person can make all the difference. |
