How has my world view changed since the study of World War II?

| My views of the world
have changed since my study of World War II. One of the things that have changed my life
is learning about the Holocaust. It has shown me what war was like. It also makes me look
at people differently than before. I am very happy that my cousins were not born in
Germany back then. The Jews suffered through many things because of racism and my cousins
would have suffered too just because of their religion. Most Germans at that time hated
Jews and they thought that if they executed all the Jews it would solve all their
problems. But luckily for the Jews, the Germans gave up on the war. Even though millions
died, millions of others where saved.
That is not all that has affected my life in this project. I also feel the pain of Japanese American children in the American internment camps. They did not suffer as much as Jews did in Germany but they were not taught basic things like reading and writing, and they could not go where they wanted to go like other children in America. Fortunately, we did not kill or try to kill all the Japanese here. The Americans were just as prejudiced against the Japanese, as the Germans were prejudiced against Jews. I also know you would not want to be in Hitlers Army. He would not give up on battles; he would not let them retreat from battle at any cost; he would make them march through two feet of snow to Russia; and he would even murder generals for disobeying orders. In fact he killed all the Gestapo high commanders in order to get new ones. Hitler may have been mean but he was a smart leader he lead his troops into battle with confidents. He always had a positive attitude that he was going to beat the British or Americans. He always looked at his goal to conquer the world. Studying World War II has helped me know what it was like during war as a child and as a soldier fighting in the war. Knowing this helps me understand people of that generation when they talk about their life experiences during that time. It also helped me look at other things that happen around the world and pay more attention to those things than I used to. |
