How has my world view changed since the study of World War II?
By: Charles
| This study has given me a new view of Hitler. He was trying to extract what
Germany didnt have. He was careful, as he picked fights against countries with
little or no power. No one liked him, and, to lower his reputation even more, he was a
cheater. He would do anything to gain power. The Holocaust was an excuse to kill and
torture innocent Jews. He had been told that Jews were to blame for everything. I used to
think that he was just one person with a wimpy army instead of a superpower. I thought he
was a nobody. I used to think that the Japanese were people that sat around ornate temples. I didnt think of them as a militarily equipped country. It seems odd that they would be willing to die before being captured. I also didnt think that they would be on the offensive side. I still think of them running around on busy streets, though. It struck me as odd that the Russians were our allies, even though our governments were conflicting. This was not a big deal until the end of WWII, when the cold war started. We had given them fancy weapons, so they hit hard. At least they were our allies during the war. They helped a lot. I thought that all we did was drop a bomb on Japan. I had no idea that we had helped the British in Europe. I thought that there were only three people in a plane that was holding an atom bomb. I didnt know about the thousands that died in Europe. I thought that we could get what we wanted with a simple click of our fingers. We were really involved in the war. If World War II had not been fought and won, my life would be like a slaves life. If Hitler had had his way, we would have no freedoms. I would feel like person 2481727267. Not very personal, is it? Thank goodness we won. |
