How my world view has changed since the study of World War II
By: Carl

I’ve always known a lot about where countries are located, so learning about the geography was not new to me. But, I did learn a lot about other aspects of that period of history. I used to think that there all of the wars took place a long time ago, such as WWII, but now I realize that wars are taking place this very moment. In the Middle East, Iraq is fighting with almost every country, and Israel and Pakistan aren’t at peace. Also many countries are struggling with civil wars, like Ireland. The world isn’t peaceful! It never will be. People will always be greedy, prejudice, and power-hungry.

Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and Tojo were some of them. These three dictators were the Axis leaders during WWII. I believe that if they had finally conquered the world together they would have turned on each other and, eventually after all the destruction and death, they would’ve killed the other leaders and their armies leaving the world right back where it started, but worse.

Joseph Stalin actually helped defeat Hitler, Mussolini, and Tojo, but that was only because by defeating them he could start dominating the world himself using the colossal land area of his communist government, Russia. Russia still today is powerful and has an extremely good technology. Never the less, this makes them major threat to many countries.

My view of the world has changed significantly during this study of WWII! I am amazed at the perseverance of some people. Some people thought that as long as they survived they could do any thing. I am amazed at the willingness some men had to fight for their country. Fifty million people were killed in WWII. That is an enormous number of lives lost forever.
