In 1998, Paul Mattias of Polaris Imaging made a complete photomosaic of the Titanic. Using two cameras synchronized with two strobe light, he took over 3000 electronic images stored on computer disks. The task of fitting then together took almost a year to complete. The information gained is invaluable for the scientists and engineers studying the wreck. It shows that the bow of the ship hit the bottom while still mostly intact while the stern shows signs of massive implosions/explosions. (from Titanic Science) The EL students divided up into teams of 4-5. A person with an interest in digital photography was chosen to take pictures of things around the school. Mrs. Moffitt instructed them to take a picture the the "whole" thing and then to take close-up pictures in a grid-like pattern. After printing the images and cutting them apart the teams put the images together like a giant jigsaw puzzle. Click on the pictures to see a larger image.
