By: Patrick Michaelis Mr. Escott Robert Phillips was a man Ilfrancorbe, North Devon, England. His father was in the Navy so he moved all over England. In 1891, he married Hannah Lisa Knight. They had their first and only child, Alice Frances Louisa Knight, nine months after their wedding. Also living with his family were his maternal grandparents. Mr. Escott has a variety of jobs in Ilfrancorbe. He was a poulterer, a fish monger, and at one point a hotel inspector for the Royal Clarence Hotel. The family stayed at their home until the year 1904 when they moved to 23 Westbourne Grove until his wife, Lisa, died from tuberculosis. After her death, Mr. Escott decided to send a message to his brother in America to say that he and his young daughter were going to immigrant. They had first bought a ticket on SS Philadelphia but because of coal strikes happening the ticket had to be changed to the Titanic. They embarked at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday April 10, 1912 from Southampton. They were to travel second class and the ticket cost twenty pounds. His joint ticket was Number 2. As the Titanic sunk his young daughter escaped on a lifeboat. He drowned in one of the ships hulls. He was 42 at the time of his death. Work Cited Ridd, Lynda. "Mr. Escott Rober Philips."
