Math ConnectionsWhat do the numbers tell you about what really happened on the Titanic? You will use the databases to explore the numbers and see if you can learn about the people who were on the ship on that fateful day. Using Microsoft Excel, you and a partner will make a chart and and graph as your final project. Use the database to answer the following questions. How many children were onboard? Crew members? First class? Second Class? Third Class? What percentage of the crew survived? First Class? Second Class? Third Class? Percentage of survivors by gender? Percentage of survivors by age? Percentage of survivors by nationality? These two statements are seemingly contradictory. Use the databases to show how statistics can support these statements. 1. More
men survived than women. Investigate the data and build a table that shows the survival rates of each gender in each class. (from Titanic: What Can Numbers Tell Us About the Fatal Voyage)
