White Star Line "White Star Line began as a bankrupt sailing and steam packet salvaged by Thomas H. Ismay when he purchased the name for 1,000 pounds sterling on January 18, 1868. The line had known other owners, but most met with problems and even disaster. Immediately Ismay and his partner arranged a deal with Harrland and Wolff to construct the four new steamships for the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company, Ltd. - White Star's official name with the first being launched on August 27, 1870. The Oceanic was a record breaker and innovator in steamship design."

Titanic: A Tragic Destiny "This Web site relates the story of the Titanic, sumptuous liner which sank during its maiden journey on April 15, 1912, bringing death to 1523 of the 2228 passengers and crew members aboard. Only 705 survived."

Titanic Nautical Society and Resource Center "Unsinkable," some would say of this beautiful mammoth of the sea that had an ill-fated date with destiny. Experience this "never-to-be-forgotten" horrific drama played out on the high sea.

"All Quiet Now" "These notes were written by one Edgar Park, an apprentice aboard the Mount Temple ship during the sinking of the Titanic. Capt. Moore in charge of that ship gives an account of the messages received on the wireless, the actions he took, mentioning other ships in the area and messages received from them. The original notes are held by his daughters, Mr. Park having died in 1937, and who have held onto the notes and only recently resurrected them."

Posted Aboard the RMS Titanic "Although the drama of one of the greatest maritime disasters -- the sinking of R.M.S. Titanic -- was played out over the course of just a few hours, the tragic event has captivated our imaginations for decades. What few remember, however, is that Titanic was more than the largest and most luxurious vessel of her time. She was also an “R.M.S.,” a “Royal Mail Ship.”

Wireless Log
"
Here you will find the log of a Marconi wireless operator on duty at the Marconi Company wireless station at Cape Race, 400 miles west of Titanic. "After the first distress call, Robert Hunston started this message log. Titanic's time was an hour and a half ahead of Cape Race. Titanic first used the distress call CQD, later adding the new code, SOS." It is broken down minute by minute in a way that describes the disaster from a different perspective".

Titanic Newspaper Archives "Newspaper articles about the Titanic during April of 1912 reflect the chaos surrounding the tragedy. Initial accounts of the sinking of the RMS Titanic started out positive, such as the headline in the Syracuse Herald on April 15, 1912, which reads "Titanic's Passengers All Rescued." Unfortunately, the reports were based on speculation and the facts surrounding the sinking of the Titanic were far worse than imagined." Read the original newspapers.

Titanic Passenger List In 1912, it was common for newspapers to publish a list of passengers. This site has a list of all the passengers on the Titanic.

The Inquiry

Titanic Inquiry Project A small and selfless group of serious Titanic researchers has recently gone to the incredible effort of transcribing the entire texts of the Senate and the British Titanic Inquiries -- each of which is over a thousand pages long -- and has graciously seen fit to post those transcripts on this website for the benefit of Titanic buffs everywhere. These researchers have reaped no financial reward for their self-imposed efforts and have undertaken this project solely in the interest of making hard-to-find historical information available to everyone who might wish to see it.

Jensen vs. the White Star Line  The law firm of Anderson Kill & Olick conducts a mock trial each year on Take Your Daughter to Work Day to show their daughters and the daughters of many of their pro bono clients what they do each day.  One year they staged the trial of The White Star Line, the operator of the R.M.S. Titanic.  The daughters were so interested in this trial, even more so than any of the previous mock trials they had done, that they decide to give everyone the opportunity to participate in this mock trial by posting trial materials on the Internet as part of their celebration of Law Day, May 1, 1998

The Discovery of the Titanic

Return to Titanic "Join scientist Dr. Robert Ballard as he takes you live to the wreckage of the Titanic. It's an undersea race to save it from total disintegration—a race that will bring you unprecedented access to the most celebrated resting place on Earth. Use Titanic Interactive to piece together what the Titanic looked like when it was first discovered by Dr. Robert Ballard in 1985."

RMS Titanic's Final Resting Place In 1985, Dr. Robert Ballard led a team of researchers in a joint French-American expedition and found the final resting place of the R.M.S. Titanic. He and his colleagues returned one year later with the DSV Alvin and a specially designed robot, the Jason Jr., to explore the ship.

A later trip to the ocean floor is discussed in this website Last Mystery of the Titanic
