Just a few examples of activities and events in which South gifted students participate.

 

• The 2003-04 Categories season will begin with the first match on Monday, dec. 1, 2003. Danny and Xavier are Co-Captains this year. The first two matches will include team members Eric, Aaron, and Andrew, in addition to the captains. All students interested in quiz-bowl activity and who are good at quick recall with quick reflexes are wecome to attend the practices. Practices will begin again on Jan. 5, 2004 in the Library classroom immediately after school.

• The Regional KSAD event was held at S.M. South on Saturday, November 22, 2003. Shawnee Mission South won 1st Place and placed 1st in the Team Super Quiz. Eleven schools participated and Blue Valley West won Second Place with Blue Valley North placing Third. The State competition is on Jan. 23 and 24, 2004 in Manhattan, KS.

• Team members for the 2004 South Academic Decathlon team are: seniors, Stephanie, Xavier, Anna, Brandon, and juniors, Amanda, Danny, James, Koga, and sophomores, Sara, Adrik, and Chris.
