| Stitches
in Time |
| Nieman Enhanced Learning Center 4th
graders worked on a project with Mrs. Healey called Stitches in Time. It was a
wonderful opportunity to bring history, creativity and technology together. Students
chose a famous woman in history and wrote her biography on computer, inserting a picture
of her. Both internet and books where included in the bibliography. This was
then printed onto muslin fabric which made the center of their quilt block. After
studying the history and math of quilts students made their own original designs for the
quilt border. They had to problem solve, using measurement and calculation in
creating their borders. Below are some class pictures with a few examples of what
the products looked like. The quilt blocks will be on display in different spots
throughout the district from now until fall. Click on the picture to see a larger
