Mysterious People and Places

A Webquest

by Cindy Sheets

Introduction

Have you ever wondered what happened the people who created the great Mayan pyramids of Palenque? The Incas that created Machu Picchu? Or the people who created the amazing statues on Easter Island? At one time they were thriving, creative communities. As we discover more about the people who occupied the Earth long before us, we learn more about our own heritage and the creative problem solving abilities of mankind. But many of the ancient, thriving civilizations disappeared. What secrets did they know? What did they create and how did they live? What mistakes might they have made? What can we learn from history?
