EXCITING NEWS!!

Mrs. Bosch and Mrs. Moffitt received a grant for $3460.10 from the Shawnee Mission Education  Foundation.  We will be purchasing the NXT Generation Robotics kits and curriculum to be used in the Fall 2008.

Our most current "big" project is CSI: Cemetery Scene Investigation.  Check out the website.

shack2.bmp (923094 bytes)Guardians of Freedom was our major project for the 2000-2001 school year. The World War II Oral Histories Project took root during an intensive study of World War II by 5th and 6th grade students.

Welcome

Welcome to the Broken Arrow Enhanced Learning Center.  The Center is part of the Shawnee Mission School District's gifted education program. We serve K-6 students who come to the Center one day a week from the feeder schools around the neighborhood. This site is to be used to provide information to gifted students and the parents and teachers of gifted students.

Students at the Enhanced Learning Center started blogging in November 2006!  Check out student writing at A Really Different Place A good place to start is Recent Posts.  You may get a username if you would like to join the blog. Thanks to Levi Sauerbrei, Camen's dad, for building and hosting our blog site.

 

Students at the EL Center are participating in online book discussions using Moodle, "Moodle is a course management system (CMS) - a free, open source software package designed using sound pedagogical principles, to help educators create effective online learning communities". Fourth graders are reading The Mysterious Benedict Society. Sixth graders are currently using Moodle to reflect on questions as part of our study of Philosophy. You can access the book discussions HERE. 

Parents who want to join the discussion need to read the book and email Mrs. Bosch for a username and password.
