
The Cambodian Government:
The current government was established in September 24, 1993. They adopted the current constitution on September 21. 1993. The Chief of State is King Norodom Sihanouk. The king is the ruler for life. The king’s successor has to be of royal blood.
The Royal Council consists of the president, the first and second vice presidents, the prime minister, and the chiefs of the Buddhist religious orders. The King appoints the prime minister. The government is made up of 25 ministries and two state secretaries. Executive power is in the hands of the prime minister.
The judicial branch is independent of the legislative and executive branches. The capitol of Cambodia is the Phnom Penh.
